When selling assets on the Marketplace, you must choose a business model. Choosing the right one depends on the type of asset and on how quickly the information contained in it becomes obsolete. Once set and configured, the business model determines what exactly your customers will be buying (Unit Type) for the specified price (Unit Price).
Subscription is ideal for assets that generate continuous or evolving value through updates, interaction, or regular content renewal. The asset's usefulness depends on maintaining ongoing access rather than one-time use. To choose this model, select Access duration as the Unit Type, and define what that duration is for the Unit Price paid.
Pay-as-you-use (PAYU) is suitable for assets whose value is realized at the moment of access. Each interaction delivers self-contained value, while long-term possession or continuous access adds little additional benefit. To choose this model, select Number of accesses as the Unit Type, and define how many individual accesses are included in the Unit Price paid.
Pay-as-you-go (PAYG) is best for assets whose value can be measured and divided into small, independent units of use. Each use provides distinct, quantifiable utility, and the asset's overall value declines slowly over time. To choose this model, select Volume of content as the Unit Type, and define the content size corresponding to the Unit Price paid.
