Pioneering decentralized infrastructures for data trading and monetization across Europe.
The FAME project is not just about building a new platform for federated data markets — it’s about reimagining the very foundations of digital trust and value exchange. Fujitsu Technology Solutions (FTS), based in Brussels, Belgium, plays a important role in this transformation by developing FAME’s Trading and Monetization Module, a blockchain-driven engine for secure, transparent, and efficient data trading.
Over the past months, our journey has included several major milestones:
Recent Developments
FTS is currently supporting WP4 activities by stabilizing and improving the smart contract layer through upgradability patterns and the diamond proxy pattern. Infrastructure automation is progressing through Argo CD integration. FTS also contributed to the architectural deliverable (D4.5) and assisted in finalizing several Work Package 4 outputs. Development is underway on a reference application for token-based data access, intended to serve as a model for future data providers. Additionally, FTS has contributed to frontend marketplace functionalities, helping integrate blockchain operations into user workflows.
Community Engagement and Knowledge Sharing
At FTS, we believe that building decentralized infrastructures is as much about innovation as it is about collaboration and education. On 24 February 2025, Krzysztof Saja represented the FAME project at the Society of Blockchain Experts in Poland. Speaking to a network of national blockchain professionals, he presented FAME’s vision and technological achievements, highlighting how decentralized systems are reshaping Europe’s digital economy.
Shortly afterward, on 12 March 2025, during the first FAME on-site training session in Limassol, Cyprus, Geert Machtelinckx and Krzysztof Saja delivered a comprehensive 1.5-hour lecture on “Decentralized Infrastructure for Data Trading and Monetization.” This session offered practical insights into blockchain principles, smart contracts, and decentralized identity technologies, demonstrating how FAME’s Trading and Monetization Module is setting new benchmarks for future data marketplaces.
Continuing our active engagement, on 17 April 2025, we also participated in the EUDATA+ Technical Meeting, an initiative gathering leading European data projects such as PISTIS, UPCAST, enRichMyData, DATAMITE, and Graph-Massivizer. We contributed a technical deep dive presentation, highlighting how FAME’s decentralized trading infrastructures are advancing secure, efficient, and regulatory-compliant data-sharing technologies. Through EUDATA+, FAME strengthens its role in building a federated data economy, fostering collaboration across groundbreaking EU-funded projects.
Academic Contributions
Recently we also submitted an academic paper, “Blockchain and Tokenization: Meeting Non-functional Requirements in Federated Data Marketplaces,” for review. The paper explores how blockchain and tokenization can meet stringent demands like governance, regulatory compliance, scalability, and adaptability — areas where traditional centralized systems often fall short. FAME’s architecture was used as a real-world case study to demonstrate the feasibility and impact of these solutions.
These initiatives highlight FTS’s strategic leadership in delivering cutting-edge Web3 technologies. FAME’s Trading and Monetization Module, built on Hyperledger Besu and using Ethereum-compatible smart contracts, addresses critical non-functional requirements like transparency, compliance, scalability, and adaptability.
The decentralized data economy is emerging fast — and FTS is proud to be a major architect of this exciting future.
