The FAME Ecosystem Goes Live: Entering the Exploitation Phase
The FAME platform is now deployed in a production environment and fully accessible, marking the project’s transition from development to active exploitation.
The FAME project — a Horizon Europe collaborative initiative bringing together research institutions, technology partners, and industry stakeholders across Europe — has reached a defining milestone: its ecosystem is now live in a production-grade environment and open for real-world engagement. After an intensive development and integration phase, the consortium has successfully moved the platform into exploitation, making its core components available to organisations, developers, and institutions ready to participate in a federated European data space.
At the heart of the FAME ecosystem are two closely integrated components now running in production. The FAME Data Marketplace provides a unified, web-based environment where organisations can discover, publish, and exchange data assets across a variety of categories — from datasets and software to services and training resources. It includes dedicated tools such as the Data Assets Catalogue, a Learning Centre and a Regulation Tool. Alongside it, the FAME Federation infrastructure — supported by the Federation Governance Application — allows organisations to formally join the federated community through a structured, democratic onboarding process. Membership grants full access to the marketplace, participation in shared governance decisions, and the ability to publish and trade assets within a regulated, trustworthy environment built on EU regulatory principles including GDPR, the Data Act, and the AI Act.
The production deployment represents a concrete step toward real-world adoption and sustainability. Companies and data providers can now actively leverage the marketplace to exchange high-value assets under transparent, configurable pricing models — including subscription, pay-as-you-go, and Data-as-a-Service schemes. Developers and technical teams benefit from well-documented APIs and integration points enabling seamless connectivity with existing systems. Public institutions and research organisations gain access to a governance framework that ensures their participation is both legally sound and operationally reliable from day one.
This is not the end of the road — it is the beginning of a new chapter. The FAME consortium continues to evolve the platform in close collaboration with pilot partners and early adopters, incorporating user feedback to refine governance mechanisms, extend marketplace capabilities, and validate the selected business models in real operational contexts. The focus now shifts to growing the federated community, enabling data-driven collaboration at scale, and demonstrating the long-term sustainability of the FAME ecosystem across European markets.
We invite organisations, developers, and institutions to explore the FAME platform, discover the value of federated data collaboration, and take the first step toward joining a growing European ecosystem. Visit the platform, review the federation process, and reach out to the FAME team to learn how your organisation can participate.
