FAME and UNDERPIN, a symbiotic relationship

September 30, 2024

In industrial environments, such as a refinery or a wind farm, breaking down data silos is crucial for enhancing operational efficiency and fostering innovation. Data silos often arise when companies and/or internal departments collect and store information independently, leading to fragmented insights that hinder collaboration and decision-making. To address this challenge, Motor Oil Hellas (MOH) and its subsidiary, Motor Oil Renewables (MORE), are implementing a data space infrastructure, in the context of a EU funded project called UNDERPIN. UNDERPIN data space, serves as a centralized platform that integrates data from various sources, including machinery, sensors, and enterprise systems. By adopting a data-sovereignty approach with semantically interoperable assets, MOH aims to create a unified view of their assets, facilitating real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.

This integration not only enhances data accessibility and interoperability but also promotes cross-departmental collaboration, ultimately driving better decision-making and operational excellence in the manufacturing sector. MOH is leveraging FAME data space to pioneer a new era of data monetization. As an industrial partner, MOH is collaborating with tech experts to transform its business into a data-driven powerhouse. By utilizing FAME’s secure data exchange platform, MOH is gaining invaluable insights into its data assets. These insights enable the company to accurately assess the quality and monetary value of its data, opening new revenue streams through data trading within the FAME marketplace. This strategic move positions MOH as a frontrunner in the European data market, driving innovation and economic growth.
